Welcome to the Lake Erie Islands Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy’s official website. We are happy you are interested in what our organization does and, possibly, how you can help in our mission which is “to encourage conservation and protection of natural and agricultural lands in the Lake Erie Islands for the benefit of future generations.”

The Lake Erie Islands Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy has been instrumental in the acquisition of property on Middle Bass and South Bass Islands that are now protected green space that can be enjoyed by the general public.

Among those properties is the Jane Coates Wildflower Trail on Put-in-Bay Road, the Scheef East Point Nature Preserve (maintained by the newly formed Put-in-Bay Township Park District), and Petersen’s Woods on Middle Bass Island’s East Point.
