<p><strong>The National Park Service at Perry&#8217;s Victory, the LEIC-BSC, and OSU Stone Lab will jointly host a community potluck on April 19 at 6:30pm at the Town Hall.</strong> Main dish and beverage will be provided. Bring a side dish or dessert to share! Topic will be the algal/nutrient problem in Lake Erie.</p>

<p><strong>Arbor Day Celebration</strong>-The Village of Put-in-Bay Tree Commission invites you to attend their 4th Annual Arbor Day Celebration on Friday April 27, 2012 at 4:00pm in DeRivera Park. This year the Commission will plant 2 Ohio Buckeye trees there. Everyone has been enjoying the flowering trees planted on Langram Road-especially  the witchhazel blooming this winter!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A pair of male cardinals flitted around my backyard Thursday as if looking for a place to seek shelter from the cold.</p>
<p>It seemed a little odd at the time, but perhaps not. With the unseasonably warm weather we were experiencing before the plummeting temperatures, and gusting wind and snow Thursday night and Friday, it was very spring-like. Cardinals, Bluejays, and a couple of obese Robins have occupied my backyard for nearly 20 years.</p>
<p>It was a comfort to see them, even though they usually remind me spring is near, not winter is just beginning.</p>
