The LEIC-BSC Nature Camp Program is a series of day camps focusing on the unique island environment and is designed for children ages 4 to 16. Classes are limited to 20 students and are led by teachers and specialists in the field of science. Each session is designed for the student’s specific age group and programs vary each year.
My First Nature Camp introduces 4 and 5 year olds to the world around them with a nature story, a hands-on nature activity, a craft, and a physical activity.
Nature Camp exposes children 6 to 8 years old to science activities exploring the outdoors. Each day includes an introduction, a hands-on science experience, a craft and an activity based on a specific theme.
Environmental Adventure Camp I is open to 9 and 10 year olds and takes the nature and science theme to a higher level with field trips around the island. On the last day, an optional overnight camp-out is held at the South Bass Island State Park with a campfire and cook-out.
Environmental Adventure Camp II is open to students 11 and up and expands on the Adventure Camp I program. Students meet in the field for science based labs and hands on learning. An overnight camping experience is offered at the end of the week at a location off the island and includes an additional field learning session.
