Adopt a garden for 2009 at LEINWC |

Joey Wulkwicz was a talented gardener. Stan and his parents did a lot of planting over the years at the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center site. Now that the LEIHS and LEIC-BSC are the proud owners of the new center, we must ensure that we maintain this treasure. We are looking for volunteers to adopt a garden and maintain it over the summer. The gardens at the LEINWC come in all shapes, sizes, and themes to fit your interests. Currently, we have a hummingbird garden, rain garden, and the start of a wildflower garden. We would like to have a garden dedicated to butterfly conservation, birds, and a vegetable garden for kids complete with sunflowers for the birds. To adopt a garden means that you would be willing to come and keep it weeded and maintained for the summer. Or if you would like to help plan, provide plantings, or have expertise in pruning (fruit trees and brambles), give us a call. If you have ideas or would like to adopt a garden, please contact Susan Byrnes at 285-2306. |
